Yes, I plan to keep going, once there’s an update and fresh new content. I can only run over the same, stale terrains and encounters before you people will get tired of watching me do it. Not posting anything isn’t much better, but I’d rather post something fresh and amusing when I actually have something than throw the same tired shit at you poor people and hope you tolerate my shenanigans until something comes along.
If that makes sense.
I accidentally deleted my dropbox screenshots directory, or I’d post a picture of Lt. Ducky answering this mail instead of me. That’s how bad it’s gotten, I can’t even be bothered to just download the photo off this tumblr and reuse it. -_-
I’ve been browsing Reddit’s /r/tumblrinaction subreddit, and I have to say, I am rather lucky in regard to the fact that I have thus far escaped unscathed from any sort of SJW attacks, despite the fact that I, King Dirtnibbler III, am a cis white male with thin privilege and a narcissism complex who keeps a female duck chained to a desk as a Liaison Officer and my pre-op transgendered Asian doctor was torn to pieces by my pet monster.
I built what amounts to a cage to contain a woman I was attracted to. I tortured my pet and locked him up in a container smaller than he could physically fit within. I’m also most definitely racist against other sentient lifeforms and have even aborted baby ragweeds out of sheer amusement.
Not a single angry comment, except from the ragweed LARPers, and they’re too stupid and useless to really care about. Everybody who follows this tumblr, even now while I wait for Chucklefish to give me an update so I can play and have fun again, thank you being cool.
I don’t follow Molly anymore. I used to, as she is listed among the Starbound crew, and she’s the community manager, so her job is fairly important. Then I realized she spends more time talking about herself on her twitter than about Starbound, which is fine, it’s just not what I was following her for. I don’t give a shit about her dog or her personal life.
And then she got in a stupid fight with some trolling actor from the TV show Justified and I was like, “This person doesn’t have the sense to not feed a troll and she’s supposed to be a representative of the Starbound crew but she’s just making them look moronic.”
So I stopped following her. If you’re the community manager, you should have enough fucking sense to stick to the community and talk to the community, not lash out at random idiots who aren’t even talking to you.
I think she’s really bad at her job, demonstrated more so by this recent fiasco and her response to it. #takeajokemolly2014
So to answer your question, no. I looked after you asked, and it’s just her being predictably unsympathetic to the frustrations of the people she’s supposed to be working with. shrug
I got the warning lifted by another mod. A cooler mod. Everybody give Ordona a high-five!
Molly locked the thread after throwing in her last words, though none of them were “Sorry I’m such a douche.” Still classy as ever. ^_^
I’m contemplating opting in for the nightlies, but it means it’s going to repeatedly chew up, swallow, and shit out my save file. No Lt. Ducky, no beautiful Heap, nothing but rags to not riches every day, and since the game runs like dog shit for me, I won’t even be playing it regularly anyway.
But it should make for some interesting bugs to joke about if I can even get it running.
Sorry I haven’t been posting this week, but I’ve been playing Wildstar, the space game that doesn’t take five to ten minutes just to load on my craptop.
BTW - I know I exaggerate a lot, but I’m not exaggerating about that Starbound load time. Five to ten minutes from the moment I click to launch the game in OpenGL, and that’s just to get to my character selection screen. It’s another minute or two tacked on while loading my character.
I’ve actually gotten up after clicking “launch” and made myself snacks and used the bathroom, come back and it still hasn’t finished loading.
I hope Chucklefish has a developer devoting all of her/his coding time to solving these load time problems. It’s not my place to tell them how to do their job, but this is a serious issue. When I sit down at the craptop and ask myself, “What do I want to play tonight?” the thought of waiting for Starbound to load just to play it and get bogged down by the immense lag just playing single player, running across an empty planet makes me not want to play it.
I’m not saying Starbound sucks, and I’m not trying to piss on the developers, who are undoubtedly under a great deal of stress. I’m just saying that as it is right now, the state of the game keeps me from enjoying it. Maybe I’ll start posting some Wildstar screenshots. Or the antics of me and my daughter playing Minecraft together. She makes me tame horses and build barns when all I want to do is add flourishes to my three-story quartz mansion.
